Man dies in copper wire theft attempt in Nandyal

Kurnool: A 32-year-old man died after being electrocuted while attempting to steal copper wire from a mineral water facility in Nandyal late on Wednesday.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Nagendra, a resident of Obulapuram village in Owk mandal. Nagendra worked as an agricultural motor pump set mechanic and had a criminal record. He was charged in at least seven crimes involving thefts of wiring, copper, and obsolete motors.

On Wednesday night, he went to Sanjamala to steal copper wire from the Subbarao mineral water facility, which is located within the compound of the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple. An electrical short circuit occurred while trying this theft, killing him instantly. A case was registered and an investigation is underway.
