Hyderabad: The GHMC’s town planning, transportation and engineering sections are seen as the most corrupt. Based on the number of complaints, the ACB says trade inspectors benefit the most. Khairatabad, Abids, Charminar, Koti or Begum Bazaar are areas that pay the most to trade inspectors, ACB sources said. Trade inspectors issue licence to establishments ranging from eateries to jewellery stores.
ACB deputy superintendent of police V. Ravi Kumar said, “Officers posted in commercial divisions make the most, as per the complaints recei-ved. They accept bribes to release teh trade licence. At times they ‘manage’ the property tax of commercials.” He said officers collude with people running businesses from illegal buildings by allowing them to function without a trade licence.
