Hyderabad: Ababdoned baby girl found outside girls hostel
Hyderabad: M. Bhagya Laxmi, who was shepherding a flock, heard the cries of an abandoned baby from the bushes near Shivalayam temple at Vampuguda near a girls’ hostel at around 10 am on Wednesday.
The girls’ hostel falls under the jurisdiction of Jawahar Nagar police station. When the woman went to investigate, she found the baby crying and ants were biting her. Other minor bite marks could be seen.
The woman immediately informed the hostel authorities, who had earlier failed to hear the sound. Police officials from the Jawahar Nagar police station arrived to take charge of the baby, after being informed.
According to police inspector S. Ashok Kumar, “We shifted the baby to the Divya Sai Hospital in Dammaiguda for a medical check-up. Doctors said she was probably born around 4 am on Wednesday. We have handed over the baby to the Child Welfare Centre, Medchal for care and protection. So far, no one has come forward to claim the child.”
