Bengaluru: Terror fugitive Kakka behind Base Movement
Bengaluru: The elusive fugitive key terror suspect, Abu Bakr Siddique alias Kakka of the proscribed terror organization Al Umma, is reportedly behind the resurgence of a new terror group - Base Movement, which owes allegiance to the Al Qaeda and has allegedly masterminded the terror blasts in lower courts in South India since April this year.
"Siddique had allegedly recruited Al Umma cadres for the 2013 Malleswaram blasts in front of the state BJP headquarters, which was executed to wipe out the BJP leadership in Karnataka," said an officer on condition of anonymity.
"The accused admitted to the police that Siddique had assigned the task to them and the ultimate target of the module was the then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi," he said.
Siddique is from Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu and has at least seven cases under the Explosive Substances Act against him. He is said to be trained in Afghanistan and Pakistan in making explosives and is recruiting vulnerable youth in South India, especially Tamil Nadu for jehadi activities.
"Siddique fled TN in 1997 after he was released from jail. He had then reportedly taken refuge in Saudi Arabia. He has since fallen off the radar and his whereabouts are not known to Indian Intelligence agencies," said the officer.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), meanwhile, on Tuesday arrested two more people Mohammed Ayub Ali and Shamsudeen from Madurai in the court blast cases in South India.
