Vellore: Youth killed parents, sister in tiff over money, romance
Vellore: His parents’ opposition to his love affair with a dalit girl and their constant demand for return of the money that he had borrowed from them seems to have infuriated their 25-year-old son who brutally murdered them and his sister, who was to get married in a month’s time.
The brutal incident came to light on Monday morning when neighbours found Mohan (52), his wife Rajeshwari (45) and daughter Suganya (23) lying in a pool of blood with their throats slit while the couple’s son Tamilarasan was lying on the floor with minor injuries.
Sources told Deccan Chronicle that he had a strained relationship with his parents for the past few weeks as he did not return Rs 1.2 lakh he had borrowed from them on the pretext of lending it to his friends.
“The parents had been demanding the money for the marriage of their daughter Suganya, which was to be held next month. And there were regular fights about his affair with a girl from a different community,” a source said.
Vellore District Police said Tamilarasan has confessed to have killed his parents and younger sister over the issue of money. “He says he killed them because they were pestering him to return the money. Since he is still in hospital, we are not able to interrogate him at length,” a senior police officer said.
Investigators also said Tamilarasan is making contradictory statements about the motive of the killing and that a clear picture would emerge only after he is taken into custody and interrogated for long.
Tamilarasan had first murdered his mother and younger sister on Monday morning and he tried killing his father when he returned home after his night shift. “He seems to have used a kitchen knife to kill his father who fought for his life with his young son but in vain. In the process, Tamilarasan also suffered minor injuries,” another officer said.
