2nd marriage: Widow kills 5-year-old son at Mullapadu in Krishna district
Vijayawada: A woman killed her 5-year-old son at Mullapadu of Penuganchiprolu in Krishna district.
Nelluru Sujatha, 28, killed her son, Ashok Kumar, by poisoning him as she thought the boy was obstructing her from getting married for a second time.
The incident occurred on May 25 and the boy’s body was found in a rivulet near the village. The villagers thought that the boy had fallen in the rivulet while playing but his grandmother, N. Sarojini, raised doubt and lodged a complaint. The Penuganchiprolu police registered a case of suspicious death and began investigation.
They have sent the body for post-mortem and the autopsy report revealed that the death happened due to poison. Then the police questioned the mother based on the timeline of the incidents and she confessed to have committed the murder.
According to Penuganchiprolu SI I. Avinash, Sujatha’s husband died 8 months ago and she was staying at her in-laws house.
She had plans to go for a second marriage but was worried that her son may become a problem for her. She made Ashok eat food laced with poison and after he fell unconscious, she threw him into the rivulet in the night and behaved as if she new nothing about the death.
As the death timing raised many doubts and the autopsy report confirmed poisoning the police have interrogated Sujatha in which she has confessed to the murder.
