Kurnool: In a heart-wrenching incident at Halvi village under Kowthalam police station limits on Saturday evening, a woman killed her two young sons and tried to end her life by suicide over family disputes.
The children, Venkatesh, 3, and Bharath, 6 months, died, while the mother Saradamma is in critical condition at Halvi Government Hospital.
Sharadamma, originally from Arlabanda village in Kowthalam mandal, had married Rama Krishna from Halvi in the same mandal four years ago. The couple, both agricultural labourers had two sons. A dispute arose on Saturday evening when Sharadamma wanted to attend the jatara at her native village but was reportedly denied by her husband. Distressed, she killed her children before trying to end her life by suicide.
The two children succumbed while being shifted to the hospital. Sub-Inspector of Kowthalam police station Narendra Kumar Reddy said that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
