Serial housebreaker, accomplice held, items worth `6.7L recovered

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone, arrested notorious inter-district habitual housebreaking offender involved in over 80 offences and also arrested the receiver. Police recovered gold and silver ornaments worth `6.70 lakh from their possession.

The accused identified as Ratlavath Shankar, 31, Naik along with his associate Bandravalli Rakesh, receiver.

Shankar, who earlier committed over 80 property offences in various districts and twin cities, was wanted in eight housebreaking cases that he had committed this year, police said.

According to police, Ratlavath Shankar Naik alias Rajesh Reddy alias Iliyaj Thummukunta from Nagarkurnool and the receiver Bandravalli Rakesh alias Raki alias Laddu, a resident of Vanasthalipuram and native of Devarakadra in Mahbubnagar.

“Shankar was wanted for offences in Keesara, Neredmet, Rajendranagar, Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy and other police station limits,” DCP task force Sadhana Rashmi Perumal said in a press release.

Explaining the modus operandi, the DCP said, “In 2012, he was first arrested by Gadwal police in an attempt to murder case. Later, he got addicted to all sorts of bad vices and in 2012 Shankar started committing property thefts. He was arrested in several cases in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, Mahbubnagar, Vijayawada, Guntur, Ongole in over 80 cases and was booked four times in PD Act. He does a recee in the city for locked houses while moving on a bike and would break into the houses during night hours. Later, he disposed of the property to his known receivers.”

Police seized stolen property worth `6,70,000 that includes 80 grams of gold, 25 grams of silver, three mobile phones and a motorcycle.
