Sub-Registrar Held Third Time for Accepting Bribe
Suryapet: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested Suryapet sub-registrar Banothu Surender Naik for accepting a bribe of ₹99,200 through two document writers who acted as intermediaries. This is not the first time Naik has faced corruption charges, having been previously trapped by the ACB in 2007 and 2018.
According to an ACB statement, Naik demanded the bribe through document writers Kalluri Srinivas and Thagella Venkat Reddy from M. Venkateshwarlu. The bribe was solicited to register a 1,080-square yard plot in the name of Venkateshwarlu's daughter as a gift deed and another 1,600-square yard plot in the name of M. Ravi Raju as a sale deed.
Venkateshwarlu reported the demand to the ACB, which set up a trap to catch Naik and his accomplices. After the cash was handed over, ACB officials tested the hands of the document writers, which turned positive for chemicals applied to the currency notes as part of the trap.
Naik, along with Srinivas and Venkat Reddy, was arrested and produced before the first additional special judge for SPE and ACB cases court in Hyderabad.
