Telugu Student Among 3 Killed in US Mishap Days Before Graduation
Hyderabad: Just days before her graduation at the University of Georgia, an 18-year-old Telugu student, Sriya Avasarala, and two of her classmates, Aryan Joshi, and Anvi Sharma, died in a car crash in Alpharetta, Georgia, USA.
The incident occurred on May 15. The car was driven by Ritwik Sompalli, another Telugu student, who escaped with injuries.
They were returning to their university hostel after a dance rehearsal when Ritwik Sompalli lost control of the steering, causing the vehicle to hit a tree and overturn on the Westside Parkway.
Avasarala and Joshi died at the spot while Anvi Sharma, who was seated in the rear, was injured and taken to North Fulton Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Avasarala, a freshman at the University of Georgia, was an avid dancer and a member of the university's dance group. Sompalli, the driver, is a student at Georgia State University. The crash was reportedly caused by speeding.
