TTD Deputy EE Among Four Held for Attempt to Murder
Tirupati: Alipiri police have arrested four individuals, including a deputy executive engineer (EE) of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), on Wednesday in connection with an attempt to murder near NGOs Colony Park in Tirupati city on May 25.
The accused have been identified as Tippana Gireesh Chandra Reddy (47), his wife Sri Lakshmi (49), who is TTD’s deputy EE, Machavaram Korlagunta Ramesh (36) and Tadavam Dharmalingam Keshavan (41).
According to deputy superintendent of police (DSP) A. Ravi Manoharachari, the quartet conspired to kill N. Venkata Shiva Reddy (65), a resident of the same apartment complex as Gireesh.
Revealing the motive behind the crime, the DSP said Gireesh has allegedly been involved in cheating cases. He started harbouring a grudge against Shiva Reddy for advising people who had been cheated by Gireesh to file police complaints.
"Driven by anger and a desire for revenge, Gireesh, along with his wife Sri Lakshmi, hatched a plan to eliminate Shiva Reddy. They offered Ramesh and Keshavan money to carry out the murder. Following this, Keshavan's brother-in-law Sai Ganesh and an accomplice Balaji attacked Shiva Reddy with a knife on the morning of May 25, leaving him critically injured," the DSP stated.
Following the attack, circle inspector Ramu Rao, and sub-inspectors Rajasekhar and Ramaswamy investigated the case under the supervision of additional SP P. Kulasekhar and SP V. Harshavardhan Raju and arrested the four accused near the Alipiri Balaji Link Bus Stand on Monday. They have subsequently been remanded to judicial custody.
