Disabled Persons Get UDID Cards After Death

Karimnagar: Shockingly, the Central government started issuing Unique Disability Identity (UDID) cards to disabled persons who are no more. On Sunday, the Central government sent UDID card to one Thalla Bhadramma, 65, who was disabled and a resident of Muthyampet village of Mallial mandal. Much to the surprise, Bhadramma died six months ago and is survived by her two sons.

Her family members, who received the card, expressed shock and alleged that she applied for the card several years ago but the government sanctioned it after she died.

Similarly, on December 27 the family members of Marri Gangarajam, 70, who was also a resident of Muthyampet village of Mallial mandal, received a UDID card from the postal department. Shockingly, Gangarajam expired nine years ago.

Gangarajam’s son Mallesham alleged that his father died in 2014. “When he was alive, he applied for the pension under disability. Had the card been issued when he was alive it would have been useful to him. Because of the negligent behaviour of the government officials, the cards were issued to persons who are no more,” he said.
