Hyderabad: Air-conditioned toilet set to be operational soon
Hyderabad: The floors and walls decked with Italian marble tiles, an expensive sofa for the visitors, and the interiors provided with air conditioning. Do not mistake all these for a guest house. In reality, this is styled as a modern toilet built at Rs 25 lakh on the Aramghar cross-roads, at Rajendranagar.
This is cited as the first AC toilet in the city, located on way to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The civic body has, on Build Operate and Transfer mode, allowed construction of the toilet with five urinals and two 2-seater toilets separately for men and women. The facility will be opened to the public in a week’s time.
The user charge decided by the contractor is Rs 5. This was built after the GHMC received requests from motorists travelling to the airport. The toilet can accommodate five to six people at a time.
GHMC’s south zone commissioner Srinivas Reddy said, “The entry fee would be Rs 5. Apart from the air-conditioning and seating arrangements, there is a separated space for refreshments. The implementing agency, Universal Solutions, has spent Rs 25 lakh on the toilet, built on a 200 square feet space on the main road.”
