HASSAN: Former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda came to the aid of bereaved family members of sepoy Sandeep Kumar (26), arranging for the mortal remains of the soldier to be ferried to Bengaluru directly from New Delhi to reach Devihalli, his native village, Shantigrama hobli of Hassan taluk, instead of a lengthy journey.
Army personnel had to wait for about six days before the body could be flown from Srinagar to Bengaluru. The body of Sandeep arrived in Bengaluru at around 11 pm on Tuesday.
