Khammam: There is no solace to the stalemate that emerged between commissioner Sandeep Kumar Jha and TRS corporators in the Khammam Municipal Corporation.
Not just the development works, but also routine works such as issuing birth and death certificates, mutation, ownership rights, approval of building plan, land regulisation scheme, road repair works, sanitation, purchasing of implements for sanitation worksers were all hit with the situation.
Both the commissioner and ruling party corporators are at loggerheads and they are trying to prove their dominance over others. The commissioner assumed office 100 days back and he did not honour a single proposal placed by ruling party corporators. There have been occasions when he asked every corporator he met, ‘Corporator is you or your wife.’
This question irked many corporators and they explained their embarrassment to Khammam MLA Ajay Kumar. He tried solving the problem by convincing the commissioner, in vain.
In turn, the commissioner said, “I am following strict rules regarding issuance of birth and death certificates. No deviation will be allowed.” Corporators take up work on benami names. The commissioner tried restricting this and has laid a tight noose around their illegal income.
Even stray dog menace is high in the eight divisions and no effort is being taken to solve the problem. All work has been halted as no one works as per guidelines. and the quality of work is quite bad.
