Uttar Pradesh: Rani Lakshmi Bai bravery awardee gang raped
Lucknow: A 28-year-old woman, winner of the Rani Lakshmi Bai bravery award, was gang raped by her husband and three others in Kaptanganj village in Azamgarh district.
The woman had been living with her parents for the past three years following a dispute with her husband. On Friday, her husband called her to an orchard, ostensibly to resolve their differences, and then he and his three friends took turn to rape her.
The victim has been sent for medical examination and the matter is being investigated. Meanwhile, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped during a wedding function in Baksha police circle in Jaunpur district.
According to the report lodged with the police, the girl who is deaf and dumb was apparently raped by some persons from the groom's side. The girl was later found in an unconscious state, bleeding profusely.
The victim has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment and confirmation of rape. The police are awaiting confirmation of the crime before they register a case and start investigations.
