Kottayam: Chitra Pournami festival was held at the Mangaladevi temple situated inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) on Monday. The Idukki and Theni district administrations made the preparations for the festival. Devotees reached the temple by foot and in vehicles from early morning.
Drinking water was made available at various places en route. The forest officials keen to maintain the green protocol collected plastic bottles from devotees. They were in turn provided with environment-friendly paper bags.
Special medical teams were also available on the way. Idukki ADM P.G. Radhakrishnan and Theni district collector M. Pallavi Baldev were present.
