Rains lash several districts in AP, more rains likely
VISAKHAPATNAM: Rains lashed NTR and Krishna districts during the last 24 hours, with Vijayawada receiving 7.75 cm of rainfall, followed by Markapur in Prakasam district 3.2 cm, Gudivada in Krishna district 2.9 cm, Tenali in Guntur district 2.8 cm and Chintoor in ASR district and Chodavaram in Anakapalli district recording 1cm each.
According to IMD, Amaravati, a trough extending from parts of Madhya Pradesh to south interior Karnataka across Vidarbha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has resulted in the rains.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Rayalaseema during the next four days.
Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 40–50 kmph are likely at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the same period.
The IMD report said temperature has come down due to scattered rainfall in many parts of Andhra Pradesh. Mercury dropped by 4.8 degrees Celsius in Jangamaheswarapuram in West Godavari, which recorded a maximum temperature of 36.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Kurnool witnessed a drop of 3.3 degrees Celsius and recorded a maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees. Ananatapur saw a drop of 3.1 degrees Celsius and recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degrees.
Once the current rainfall recedes, temperature is likely to shoot up again in many parts of the state.
