Hyderabad: Complaints on VIPs put on back burner
Hyderabad: While a Delhi court dropped a complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday, more than 200 complaints filed by the Telangana Advocates JAC against top politicians are under investigation here.
The complaints include those against Union law minister Sadananda Gowda, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, TD legislator A. Revanth Reddy, former AP Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and former DGP Dinesh Reddy, and against the Srikrishna Committee.
A case was also filed at the Nampally court against the entire AP Cabinet for their “objectionable” role during the bifurcation process. The case is under trial.
Most of these complaints are against Mr Naidu and TD leaders, for their comments on Telangana state and TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
While a few advocates support the move, a majority said these complaints do not have credibility.
“When the former CM said that he would not give even a single rupee to Telangana, that was clear discrimination and promoting hatred between two regions,” said Advocates’ JAC convener T. Sriranga Rao, adding that complaints on political speeches would dilute the credibility of genuine cases.
“If the comments are against the CM or the government, they should react to them and clarify. On the contrary, a complaint by any third party cannot be considered to register a case. Most of these complaints are used for publicity,” another senior advocate said.
Earlier on Tuesday, a Delhi court dismissed a complaint filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly using “defamatory” and “seditious words” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the CBI raid at his aide’s office.
