Hyderabad: No fund for RTA test track
Hyderabad: Lack of funds has delayed the works of the new driving test track at the office of the Road Transport Authority Hyderabad, South, at Bandlaguda near Chandrayangutta.
The RTA had last September announced the setting up a driving test track on a two-and-a-half acre land parcel adjoining its Bandlaguda office. The need is being felt as the applicants to the office are asked to go to Nagole for the test to obtain a driving licence.
Sources said that there is a delay in carrying out driving tests due to rush at the Nagole office and applicants are forced to wait for nearly three weeks.
RTA officials attribute the delay in works on the new track due to shortage of funds.
The proposed driving track will also have sensors installed to minimise manual checking and corruption. When contacted, RTA joint commissioner J. Pandurang Naik said that about Rs 25 lakh was released recently by the government for the driving test track works. “The works will be resuming soon and a modern driving test track will be completed in the next three months,” he said.
