3rd party to monitor industrial projects

APIIC to appoint consultants to check progress of works.

Visakhapatnam: The state government, stung by criticism regarding delays, with several projects being grounded, has decided to appoint a consultant for a third party check, inspection and to monitor the progress of industrial projects for which the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has been allotting land sites across the state since 2014. The APIIC recently issued a Request for Proposal (RFP), calling private consultants to apply, said a senior official with the corporation.

The consultant will be appointed for an initial period of 12 months which could be extended, APIIC reserving the right to re-conduct the selection process. The third party inspection and monitoring will be applicable to all land allotment cases since 2014 and for land allotments made in the future during the period of the consultancy. The APIIC, which promotes industrial development in the state, receives applications from entrepreneurs, seeking allotment of land for establishment of industrial units/projects.

It scrutinises them on the basis of various criteria, such as justification for land, investment to be made, employment to be created, financial viability of the project, green category industry and other such parameters, and a detailed project report is also submitted by the entrepreneur. It’s only after this that the APIIC allots land parcels to entrepreneurs. It has so far developed more than 250 industrial parks/estates across 13 districts of the state and created land banks for future industrial development.
