Voluntary lockdown in covid-free HD Kote after barber\'s niece tests corona positive
Mysuru: While HD Kote is the only taluk in Mysuru district free from Covid 19 though it is bordering Kerala, merchants of the taluk have decided to go in for self declared lockdown from 2pm to 6am after a niece (Hunsur based) of barbar of HD Kote taluk, who visited a community health centre at HD Kote, tested positive for Covid 19.
A 13 year old girl, a native of Karimuddanahalli village in Hunsur taluk had visited St Mary's Community health centre on Hunsur road in HD Kote on 25 June with the complaint of fever. Since the fever did not subside she was referred to KR hospital in Mysuru on 26 June. And her throat swab was drawn for testing on 27 June and she tested positive for the virus on 28 June. And she is now treated at designated hospital in Mysuru.
Followed by this, St Mary's community health care centre (CHC) in HD Kote has been sealed down and two doctors and 15 staff of the CHC are home quarantined.
The 13 year old had visited the house of her maternal Uncle, a barbar in Hosamaala vilage in HD Kote taluk on 21 June. Hence her uncle, aunt and their two children are home quarantined.
Meanwhile those who visited barber's shop are anxiously waiting for test reports of the Barber. According to taluk health officers, Barber's throat swab will be taken on 2 July.
At least 400 inter-state travellers are registering themselves at inter state registration centre at Antharasanthe of HD Kote taluk.
At HD Kote they have done tests of 800 people and all are negative so far. So to ensure the taluk is free from Covid 19, the merchants of the taluk along with their MLA Anil Chikkamaadu have decided to go in for self declared lockdown from 2pm to 6am till 10 July. HD Kote also borders few ranges of Bandipur and Nagarahole forests.
Meanwhile, after six people in T Narsipur taluk of Mysuru district tested positive for Covid 19, merchants of that taluk have also decided to go in for self declared lockdown from 2pm to 6am till 15 July.
The six positive cases of T Narsipur taluk include a head constable at T Narsipur police station (who resides in Nanjangud), two Bengaluru returnees of SKP Agrahara and Kurbur of taluk, and a pregnant lady of Bannur who was tested positive at Cheluvamba hospital in Mysuru before delivery, and two others from Ankanahalli and Basavanahalli who had influenza like illness and was tested positive for Covid 19.
In Mysuru, so far 261 cases, three deaths have been reported and 93 cases are active, three are in ICU.
