Jagananna Suraksha gets Overwhelming Response from People

Vijayawada: Following the unprecedented initiative of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to consolidate beneficiaries’ support, the state government conducted 1,305 Jagananna Suraksha camps simultaneously across 175 Assembly constituencies on Saturday. This on-the-spot redressal of public grievances has registered overwhelming response.

The Chief Minister said that the government’s aim is to ensure that no eligible person is deprived of welfare schemes and ‘Jaganananna Suraksha’ is in that very direction.

Ministers, MLAs, MPs and other people’s representatives participated in camps in their respective areas in the 26 districts.

According to officials, 9.48 lakh tokens were issued to applicants. Of them 4.43 lakh grievances were registered online and 3.70 lakh were resolved in the camps.

Minister for social welfare Merugu Nagarjuna said that 1,305 Suraksha camps were set up (two per mandal) in the 175 assembly constituencies. He recalled that within a week of its launch on June 23, the campaign had made a remarkable impact, reaching 25 lakh households through its door-to-door outreach activities.

Nagarjuna said, “The entire government apparatus is working together to engage with the public in an effort to strengthen the welfare programmes. For the next 30 days, the government will focus on streamlining document-specific issues to assist citizens acquire certificate-related paperwork in a single day. The government is establishing a robust security net with the deployment of government machinery of 1.5 lakh Secretariat staff, including 2.6 lakh gram and ward volunteers and 3,000 mandal-level officers to undertake the survey of 1.6 crore households . We will conduct 15, 000 Jagananna Suraksha camps to ensure all-inclusive delivery of welfare schemes.”

The minister added, ‘Our government has successfully delivered 99% of all manifesto promises. Moreover, we want to ensure that whoever is left out from the ambit of our social welfare schemes due to technical glitches, should also be covered under the Jagananna's security net.’

MLC Marri Rajasekhar emphasised that this is a one-of-a-kind campaign where the government is coming to people’s doorstep rather than asking them to rally around government offices.

‘It is to provide documents and certificates to people without them going to government offices,’ he said.

On choosing July for launching the campaign, he said, ‘The government has strategically chosen this timeline as it coincides with the upcoming college admissions. This will facilitate students in obtaining the necessary updated documents for admissions and accessing hostel facilities, scholarships, and other benefits. Furthermore, the beneficiary lists of various welfare schemes will be revised in the coming months ideally in August.’
