New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held meetings with NDA MPs from Uttar Pradesh (Paschim, Braj, and Kanpur-Bundelkhand), West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha. During these meetings, Modi emphasised the importance of connecting with the people in their respective constituencies and highlighting local issues. He reiterated that the NDA’s sole agenda is to serve the people and work for their welfare.
In addition, Modi criticised the Opposition for changing its name from UPA to INDIA, stating that the earlier name had become synonymous with corruption and misgovernance. The meetings also included a presentation showcasing the achievements of the NDA government at the centre over the last nine years. The meetings with NDA MPs are part of a series of interactions that Modi is conducting after the recently held meeting of an expanded NDA, which marked the 25th year of the alliance.
The purpose of these meetings is to provide guidance to NDA MPs on winning the parliamentary polls and strengthen their poll prospects. It is also viewed as an effort by the BJP leadership to address allegations from the Opposition and former NDA allies, claiming the BJP does not give due respect to its partners within the coalition.
In the first meeting, Modi was joined by BJP president J.P. Nadda and minister Nitin Gadkari, while the second meet had home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh in attendance. The party has appointed union ministers, MPs, and national office holders to coordinate with MPs from respective regions.
The next meeting is scheduled for August 2 and will involve MPs from southern states and the remaining regions of Uttar Pradesh.
