IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Heavy Rainfall in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: The state can expect heavy rainfall, due to multiple conditions developing in the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday. The weather bureau sounded a yellow alert for the state from September 3 to 5.

The IMD said that a cyclonic circulation was persisting in the northeast Bay of Bengal. There was a trough running from the centre of this system to coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Another cyclonic circulation lay over South Chhattisgarh. A new cyclonic circulation was likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around September 3 and under its influence a low pressure area was likely to form in the subsequent 48 hours.

Meanwhile, a system over the west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh had become less marked

Under these multiple weather systems, the state will receive light to moderate rains or thundershowers at many places for the next five days.

The IMD said rains will be accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Vikarabad and those on the city’s outskirts such as Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and Rangareddy.

In the next 48 hours, the city will experience light rains or drizzle and hazy mornings with windy weather.
