Anand issues guidelines to cops for Milad juloos

Hyderabad: Police commissioner C.V. Anand on Saturday conducted a video conference with personnel of the rank of sub-inspectors and above on Saturday, ahead of Sunday’s Milad-un-Nabi juloos, to ensure that the procession passed off with a glitch and other arrangements including traffic diversions were in place.

The main procession will start from Gulzar Houz and travel via Pathergatti, Madina crossroads, Chatta Bazaar, Purani Haveli, Mandi Miralam, Etebar Chowk, Kotla Aliya and conclude at Moghalpura.

The police have pressed into service additional platoons, and there is an emphasis on monitoring history sheeters and conducting social media surveillance, according to a statement.

Emphasising the importance of prompt incident-reporting to senior officers, Anand directed officers to post a significant police force presence in mixed localities while intensifying patrolling. He asked officers to liaise closely with the event organisers and ensure that the procession routes remain clear and adhere to predetermined paths.

Anand said the ICCC will be operational from the morning and any untoward incidents can be quickly reported, he said.

In view of a large number of youth riding on two-wheelers, Anand directed traffic officers to implement effective measures aimed at reducing road accidents and enhancing safety.

Anand directed officials to provide comprehensive briefing on customs, the historical significance of Milad festivities, related meetings, events and the organisations involved, as many station house officers were new to the Old City.

Zonal DCPs provided an overview of the processions scheduled within their jurisdictions. Excluding inter-commissionerate processions, that may partially enter city limits, multiple processions would take place across the seven zones, mostly in the south, south-east and south-west.
