All woman facilitation centre opened at Coimbatore railway station
Coimbatore: Commemorating completion of nine years of service to passengers since its formation this day in 2007, an all woman facilitation centre was opened at the city railway station by Salem division of Southern Railway.
This is one of seven such centres in Southern Railway. The centre would provide a place for women passengers to seek travel related assistance and would be staffed around the clock by women staff of the Commercial and Railway Protection Force departments of the division, a release said.
The counter provides assistance needed by women passengers and in addition also provides help in lodging complaints with the Government, Railway police, access to prepaid auto service, an official release said.
The major facility was the baby feeding centres where nursing mothers are given privacy to take care of infants.
More such centres are being planed to be provided in all the major stations of Salem Division in the near future, it said.
