Justice City at Amaravati dampens Seema dreams
KURNOOL: With AP government going ahead building Justice City at Amaravati, hopes of establishing High Court at Rayalaseema wanes. AP Bar Council member P. Ravi Guvera said they are intensifying pressure on government not to go ahead until promise to Rayalaseema fulfilled.
He said that Bar Associtions in Rayalaseema had passed many resolutions demanding that the court be located in Rayalaseema region following the spirit of the Sri Bagh pact and to wipe away the feeling of discrimination. But, clearly, neither the State government nor the Union government is interested in developing Rayalaseema.
So far the Bharatiya Janata Party had committed to setting up High Court in Rayalaseema. The BJP which had passed “Rayalaseema Declar-ation” promised the people that if voted to power, the party would strive to get High Court in the spirit of Sri Bagh pact. BJP State Vice President Kapil Eswaraiah said that the Rayalaseema region is an apt place for functioning of High Court as the Amaravati is hosting the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. He reminded when Kurnool was the capital city of Andhra State, the High Court was established at Guntur which later shifted to Hyderabad.
Mr Ravi Guvera said he was in consultation with key persons in the judiciary over the course of the matter as majority of advocates practicing in Hyderabad had also evinced keen interest in High Court being set up at Kurnool. He said due to lack of envisioning the real picture, some advocates were earlier misled to establishing High Court bench instead of High Court at Kurnool. Our aim is to get AP High Court functioning at Kurnool, he said.
He also said that YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was approached by advocates got a positive promise from him that he would support High Court establishment at Kurnool.
