Rahul Gandhi to visit Andhra Pradesh after polls in five states
VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Gidugu Rudra Raju on Tuesday announced that their party’s top leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Andhra Pradesh after the completion of assembly elections in five states.
He will be participating in a huge protest that Congress is organising against privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Rudra Raju spoke at a function organised at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada on the occasion of former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary and the birth anniversary of first deputy PM of India Sardar Vallabbhai Patel.
The APCC chief and other Congress leaders paid floral tribute to Indira Gandhi and Vallabbhai Patel.
He said Indira Gandhi had changed the lives of poor people with the slogan Gareebi Hatao. For the first time in the country, she distributed house sites and houses to Dalits, besides starting the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) to benefit the tribal communities.
APCC working presidents Sk. Mastan Vali, Janga Gowtham and Sunkara Padmasri, PCC media cell chairman Dr. N. Tulasi Reddy and party leaders Kolanukonda Sivaji, N. Narasimha Rao and M Suresh were among those who participated in the function.
