TTD announces Karthika Deepotsavams in multiple locations across Andhra Pradesh
Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) announced on Tuesday that it will organize a series of Karthika Deepotsavams across Andhra Pradesh, beginning on November 20, as part of its Hindu Santana Dharma Prachara activities.
Karthika Masam is one of the holiest months in the Hindu calendar, symbolizing devotion, spirituality, and deep introspection. It is traditionally observed with a variety of rituals, including the lighting of lamps, or "deepas," to dispel darkness and spread the light of knowledge and wisdom. In keeping with these traditions, the TTD has decided to hold Karthika Deepotsavams in multiple locations to enhance the spiritual fervour among devotees.
TTD executive officer A.V. Dharma Reddy informed that the first Deepotsavam program will be held in Tirupati on November 20, followed by Kurnool on November 27 and Vizag on December 4. He directed the concerned officials to make elaborate arrangements in coordination with local administration and police, with the help of donors from the respective areas. He also directed the officials to consult with the chief priests of the Tirumala temple for arranging puja materials.
The decision to hold Karthika Deepotsavams in multiple locations is aimed at enabling devotees from different regions to participate in this sacred observance. The Karthika Deepotsavams will feature elaborate ceremonies, including the lighting of thousands of oil lamps, recitation of religious hymns and bhajans, and cultural programmes to create a spiritually charged atmosphere.
