HC dismisses 2018 election petition against Koppula
Hyderabad: In a relief to social welfare minister Koppula Eshwar, the Telangana High Court on Friday dismissed the election petition filed against him with regard to his election from Dharmapuri constituency in 2018.
Congress candidate Adduluri Laxman, who lost to Eshwar in 2018 elections with a wafer-thin margin of 441 votes, had filed the election petition in 2019, urging the court to set aside Eshwar’s election and declare him (Laxman) as the MLA of Dharmapuri. He contended that although there were several malpractices during the counting of votes and many VVPAT slips had been untraced, Eshwar’s election was not legitimate.
The High Court reserved the orders in the election petition in October.
On Friday, Justice K. Lakshman pronounced the orders by dismissing the election petition against Eshwar.
