Hyderabad: Cab driver saves woman from suicide
Hyderabad: A cab driver's presence of mind saved a woman's life on Monday. The woman, a resident of Marredpally, booked a cab from her place to Tank Bund with the intention to commit suicide. Noticing the passenger sobbing continuously, the cab driver drove to the Lake police station where she told the police that she was about to jump into the lake to commit suicide.
“The woman was going through financial difficulties. She had booked an Uber cab, bearing the number TS 09 UA 7580, to Tank Bund on Monday. She was weeping throughout the journey and this made driver Anil Goud to drive to the Lake police station and handed her over to the officials here” said inspector Dhanalakshmi.
Cab driver Mr Goud said, “Noticing her crying, I asked several times what the reason was, but in vain. Even after reaching the police station, she tried to run away towards the lake. It took three-four officials to calm her down.”
Police officials counselled the woman and later sent her to a Bharosa centre for a professional help.
