MPs support new railway line between AP and Telangana

Vijayawada: Joint Action Committee of Nuzvid on Tuesday said Eluru Lok Sabha MP Kotagiri Sridhar and Rajya Sabha MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao have supported the construction of a new railway line connecting the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

In this regard, JAC Nuzvid leaders G.S.K. Appa Rao, Chatrathi Ramakrishna, G. Hanumantha Rao and Lokala Umamaheswara Rao have submitted a memorandum to higher officials of the South Central Railway.

The new railway line will start from Gudivada railway junction. via the Nuzvid railway station, it will cover Nuzvid town, opencast coal mining areas of Surepalli, Somavaram and Visannapet, before entering Telangana at Madhira in Khammam district.

The JAC Nuzvid leaders said responding to the proposal, the Eluru MP has addressed a letter to railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to sanction the new railway line connecting the two Telugu states. They said another MP Narasimha Rao has personally met Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi and presented a memorandum seeking the new railway line.

“The union railway minister has responded positively to the new line,” the JAC Nuzvid leaders stated.

MP Narasimha Rao said the new railway line will be financially viable due to the significant upcoming traffic expected from the new Machilipatnam port and Coal India fields. This line will serve as a very economical logistics corridor for Kakinada and Machilipatnam ports and also benefit Telangana state, the MP added.
