Hyderabad: The wife of a police inspector along with her three children, attempted suicide at the Rachakonda police commissioner’s camp office in LB Nagar on Monday.
Renuka along with her three sons, walked into the commissioner’s camp office at around 2.30 pm with a bottle of petrol and some documents in her hand. She opened the bottole in front of the door of the CP’s office, poured petrol on her children and herself and tried to light the fire.
Reporters and police personnel at the spot prevented her from lighting the matchstick, immediately poured water and rescued the children.
Renuka alleged that her husband T. Rajaiah, who works as an inspector in the special branch in Sangareddy district was cheating her.
She alleged that he had married two more women after abandoning her along with the three children. “I lodged two complaints at the Saroornagar women’s police station against my husband. He has not been arrested yet in any case. He forced another wife of his to lodge a complaint against me and a case has been registered under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Police served me notices asking for my explanation,” she said.
Meanwhile, Rachakonda police said that a case was registered against Renuka following a complaint from inspector Rajaiah’s wife that Renuka had gone to the latter’s house and abused her by taking her caste name. As per legal procedure, Renuka was served notices but was not arrested. “With regards to the cases filed at Saroornagar women’s police station, one case ended up in a compromise and another has been chargesheeted,” said officials.
