Vasan all praise for Jayalalithaa in Thanjavur poll campaign
Thanjavur: The Thanjavur municipality was upgraded into city corporation only during the AIADMK regime led by J. Jayalalithaa, former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, said Sri G.K. Vasan, president, Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC-Moopanar) here on Monday.
Campaigning for N.R. Nadarajan TMC candidate for Thanjavur Lok Sabha constituency and R. Gandhi, AIADMK candidate for Thanjavur Assembly constituency, Vasan pointed out to various projects like integrated court complex, new district police office, new collectorate etc., taken up during AIADMK regime at Thanjavur.
The "AIADMK did a lot for Thanjavur and hence people of the corporation should support AIADMK and TMC (Moopanar) candidates for Thanjavur Assembly and Thanjavur Lok Sabha constituencies respectively," he appealed.
Mr. Vasan said that AIADMK government led by Jayalalithaa brought a solution to vexatious Cauvery issue. He said that while Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala declares that his party would defeat Rahul Gandhi, who is going to contest from Wyanad also in Kerala, communists have joined with Congress in Tamil Nadu. People should understand this contradiction.
Seeking support for Nadarajan in 'Autorickshaw' symbol, Vasan said that the candidate belonged to a family with long political tradition. While V.N. Swaminathan, relative of Nadarajan was MP, N.R. Rangarajan, (Nadarajan's brother) was MLA of Pattukottai three times. "Both Nadarajan, TMC (Moopanar) candidate for Thanjavur Lok Sabha and R. Gandhi, AIADMK candidate for Thanjavur assembly constituency are young and they will echo the demands of the people in the Lok Sabha and Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and get things done for people," Vasan said.
Mr. R. Vaithilingam MP (AIADMK) also joined with Vasan in the campaign. Vasan garlanded the statue of Kamaraj at Keelavasal and started his campaign. He addressed from a van at the old bus stand, railway station, Ramanathan hospital road junction, Medical college road and Karanthai
