Narrow escape for DK Shivakumar as his bird-hit chopper makes emergency landing

BENGALURU: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday went through scary moments after the helicopter in which he was travelling was hit by an eagle damaging its windshield. The pilot of the chopper managed to bring the chopper to make an emergency landing.

The chopper returned to Jakkur HAL airport after the incident.

The incident occurred when Shivakumar was travelling in the chopper with media persons from Jakkur HAL airport to Mulabagal in Kolar for election election campaigning.

Recalling the incident, Shivakumar said the incident happened about 10-minutes after the chopper took off from Jakkur and had reached Hosakote. The chopper could not navigate further owing to gusty winds blowing in the region and the pilot managed to take the chopper to low altitude and made an emergency landing.

Shivakumar later left for Mulabagal by road.
