Online registration of cattle begins in Andhra Pradesh

The minister said that the government is trying to provide Rs 15,000 income to every farmer through milk production.

Guntur: Online registration of cattle started under Information Network on Animal Productivity and Health (INAPH) in the state for the improvement of milk production.

Minister for animal husbandry C. Adinarayana Reddy and minister for agriculture S. Chandramohan Reddy inaugurated the INAPH under Pasu Sanjivani programme at Dharanikota in Amaravati mandal of Guntur district on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Adinarayana Reddy said, “Dairying is an important sector in our country as we are the highest milk producers in the world, but productivity of our animals is low.”He said that improving productivity of animals requires building of infrastructure for producing quality bulls through genetic improvement progra-mmes, producing semen from high-quality bulls and making it available to farmers at their door-step so that their animals are bred with high quality semen, building of infrastructure for producing cattle feed, feed supplements, fodder seed etc.

Mr Adinarayana Reddy said that keeping in view the urgent need, National Dairy Development Board has developed Information Network for Animal Productivity and Health (INAPH), a desktop, netbook, windows, phone-based field IT application that facilitates the capturing of real-time reliable data on breeding, nutrition and health service delivered at the farmer’s door-step.

The minister said that the government is trying to provide Rs 15,000 income to every farmer through milk production and asked famers to make good use of the scheme by forming village farmer’s groups.

Mr Chandramohan Reddy said that highest budget in AP was sanctioned to agriculture sector and asked the farmers to register their cattle with INAPH without fail to make good use of the government schemes.

The two ministers presented cattle health cards to the farmers during the programme in which Guntur joint collector M. Venkateswara Rao, agriculture, horticulture and other officials participated.
