Aadhaar must for class 9, 11 CBSE exams
Hyderabad: For the first time, the CBSE has made it compulsory for candidates to submit their Aadhaar number for registration for the board exams of Classes 9 and 11 for the academic year 2017-18. Hyderabad schools affiliated to CBSE believe linking Aadhaar is a good move as it will make it easy to verify educational qualifications.
All CBSE-affiliated schools have been notified to register their students from Class 9 and 11 on the official website of the CBSE Board by submitting the necessary documents and subject related details. CBSE stated that schools should register online with the board before making submissions of documents for the session 2017-18.
Schools say parents are willing
The pre-registration of schools with the CBSE is a mandatory step to fulfil the steps required to complete the online registration process of schools with the CBSE board for the session 2017-18.
According to CBSE, if the Aadhaar number is not available, the Aadhaar enrolment number can be provided for the registration.
Foreign nationals must provide their passport number or social security number and ID Number issued by the concerned country.
Schools in the city have already started collecting the Aadhaar numbers from students. District education officers have also instructed all schools to fill in the Aadhaar details of students.
Hyderabad Sahodaya Schools Complex vice-chairperson Anjali Razdan said the state government had also asked schools to link the Aadhaar card with enrolments. “Parents also have no problem in sharing their child’s Aadhaar; so we see no problems.”
Dr Narasimha Reddy of Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthpur, said, “We have already started collecting Aadhaar numbers. I feel it’s a good move to link up courses with a unique ID number so that it’s easy to verify someone’s educational qualifications.”
