Pakistan resorts to fresh shelling along LoC in Jammu's Rajouri
Jammu: Violating the ceasefire, Pakistani troops on Wednesday shelled areas along the LoC in Bhimber Gali sector of Rajouri district.
The latest ceasefire violation comes a day after eight civilians including two children were killed and 22 others injured in heavy shelling by Pakistani troops.
The Defence PRO said, "There was unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army in BG sector from 1230 hours today."
They fired from automatic weapons and lobbed 82 mm mortar bombs, he said, adding that the Indian troops gave a befitting reply.
Along the International Border (IB), there were no reports of firing and shelling during the night. "No firing incident was reported on IB of Jammu since night," PRO BSF said.
In view of the relentless shelling, the Jammu and Kashmir government has closed over 400 schools along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu region.
A total of 18 people, including 12 civilians, have been killed and more than 80 suffered injuries in Pakistani shelling and firing along IB and LoC in Jammu since surgical strikes against terror launch pads by the Indian Army in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
BSF had yesterday said that 14 Pakistani Posts were destroyed in retaliatory action by its troops along International Border (IB) in Ramgarh and Arnia sectors of Jammu frontier.
