HC Verdict on CID\'s Plea for Additional Bail Conditions For Naidu on Nov. 3

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court would pronounce on Friday, November 3, its verdict on the AP CID’s plea to impose additional conditions on TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s interim bail.

A single judge bench of Justice Mallikarjuna Rao held the hearing on the CID’s plea here on Wednesday.

The CID counsel and additional advocate general Ponnavolu Sudhakar submitted to the court that Naidu on a one-month-long bail on health grounds, has already started violating the conditions imposed by the HC for the bail.

“Naidu held a political rally while going from Rajahmundry central prison to his home in Vundavalli by road and addressed the media outside the prison premises soon after his release on Tuesday, the court was told.

He said that though the court had imposed conditions, Naidu flouted them. He submitted evidence on these violations to the court, in the pen drive. He urged the court to issue directions to keep two DSP-rank officers with Naidu and report to the court on what was happening.

The court asked counsel to keep tab on Naidu with the help of the state’s intelligence wing. Responding to this, counsel submitted that they want two police officers to follow Naidu. Keeping intelligence sleuths to check what Naidu does can be done without the latter’s knowledge.

However, Naidu’s counsel Dammalapati Srinivas argued that imposing additional conditions on Naidu would lead to a breach of his fundamental rights. “Naidu did not flout the conditions. He did not take out any political rally. Instead, people came to see him and extend their support to him while he was proceeding to Vundavalli from the central jail,” counsel asserted.

After hearing both the parties, the court said it would pronounce the order on Friday.
