Rameswaram: 6 held for taking drone photo of Pamban bridge
Rameswaram: In alleged unauthorised use of a drone (a tiny unmanned aircraft) to take pictures of the scenic Pamban rail and road bridges that connect the pilgrim island of Rameswaram with the mainland Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu, has landed six over-enthusiastic employees of a Tiruchy-based firm in trouble on Friday.
The six employees of the private firm - whose name was given by the police as 'Grid Alignment', allegedly tried to take pictures of both the historic and expansive bridges without a proper authorization from higher-ups, sources said.
Central Intelligence agencies, coming to know of a drone hovering over the Pamban rail bridge rushed to the spot and questioned the six persons who were allegedly operating the remote controlled aircraft.
The employees said they had the permission of the Railway Authorities, which the latter, however, denied when the Central Intelligence sleuths got in touch with the Railway officials.
Thereupon the Central Intelligence people handed over all the six persons to the Pamban police station for further action.
