Walk creates awareness about multiple sclerosis

The walkers were dressed in a red t-shirt with the words ‘Together We Are Stronger’ and holding placards.

Hyderabad: People thronged the war memorial near Parade Ground, Secunderabad, early on Sunday morning for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Walk. The first Sunday of every February is marked as India MS Day.

The walkers were dressed in a red t-shirt with the words ‘Together We Are Stronger’ and holding placards. They gave early morning walkers a crash course on multiple sclerosis. When some joined the crusade to highlight the dreaded neurological disorder, they were told about multiple sclerosis and how it impairs a person.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI), Hyderabad, chairperson Meena Gupta said: “The walk was aimed at showing the people of the city that an MS patient (MSP) is just like any other normal human being. The MSPs walked about 300 metres from the memorial to the gate and back.”

Seeing so many people wearing red coloured t-shirts, passersby, stopped at the registration desk to find out what was happening at the ground. “Some people also asked to join in, to spread awareness on the issue,” she said.
