French citizens of Puducherry talk it out with Lt Governor
Puducherry: The French nationals in Puducherry have sought special police station, development of Auroville township and to make procedures familiar for them to pursue higher studies in India among other things
In a meeting with Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, the French nationals living in Puducherry headed by French Consul General Madame Suard raised the issues of security, skill development, education and environment. Following the request made by many of them for a special police station, Director General of Police Sunil Kumar Gautam ensured that the police department will take immediate action to identify a place, fix a date or days and timings for French-speaking police officials to be available for French citizens.
On the issue of pursuing higher studies in India, the Lt Governor said that a request will be made to the Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University to meet the French Consul General to give necessary information and support on queries regarding pursuing higher education.
More than 60 French citizens had attended the meeting held at Raj Nivas on Friday. The Lt Governor suggested creating a WhatsApp group with Consul General as administrator to continue the dialogue and stay engaged.
The meeting was also attended by chief secretary in charge V. Candavelou, senior superintendent of police Rajiv Ranjan and Chandran among others.
