PM Modi to perform bhoomi puja for Rs.11K-cr projects
HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform bhoomi puja for projects coming up in the state worth Rs 11,355 crore during his visit to Hyderabad on April 8, including a major upgrade of the Secunderabad railway station. He will address a public meeting at the Parade Ground.
Union minister Kishan Reddy said the Prime Minister will flag off the Vande Bharat Express to Tirupati at the Secunderabad station. Incidentally, this will be the 13th Vande Bharat Express to be introduced in the country.
Modi will perform bhoomi puja for development works to be undertaken towards the redevelopment and modernisation of Secunderabad station, Kishan Reddy
said.
On the occasion, Modi will dedicate to the nation 85-km Secunderabad-Mahbubnagar track doubling works costing of Rs 1,410 crore.
Later, he will inaugurate 13 MMTS Phase-II services that will run on new lines between Bolaram and Medchal and Falaknuma and Umdanagar.
Kishan Reddy said that Modi would address a public meeting at Parade Ground and Modi will lay the foundation stone for work on six National Highways worth Rs 7,864 crore. Modi will also perform the bhoomi puja for new blocks in AIIMS, Bibinagar built at a a cost of Rs 1,366 crore, Kishan Reddy said.

- The station’s building area will be increased by about five times to 61,912 sq. m. from the current 11,427 sq.m.
- The new facilities are designed to meet passenger needs for 40 years.
- When the work is done, it can accommodate peak traffic of 25,000 passengers per hour, and 3.25 lakh during surges.
- The station will have an 108-metre double-level concourse connecting the terminal building and all platforms.
- Direct connectivity to Secunderabad East and Secunderabad West Metro Rail stations and Rathifile bus station is envisaged.
- Multilevel car parking towards the north terminal and segregation of departure and arrival passengers are some of the other features in the new-look station.
