Pondy CM's swearing-in likely on June 6
PUDUCHERRY: The new Congress government in Puducherry is likely to be sworn in on June 6, said the Chief Minister-designate V. Narayanasamy on Thursday. Narayanasamy who is camping in New Delhi to hold talks with the party high command on the composition of the ministry called on party president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday. Mr Narayanasamy, who called on the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday along with Pradesh Congress Committee president A. Namassivayam and former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, also met the congress president separately and submitted a list of his ministers.
Mr Narayanasamy after the meeting with Mrs Gandhi said that the new government will be sworn in on Monday most probably.“We are planning to hold the function by Monday, though the date is not confirmed yet” he said
Answering to a question about his ministerial colleagues in the cabinet, he said that the Congress president will announce the names officially. After the Congress-DMK alliance together won in 17 of the 30 seats in the UT, the MLAs elected former Union Minister Mr. Narayanasamy as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader.
Even after the selection of CLP, the swearing-in function of the government has been further delayed due to more number of ministerial aspirants. According to the reports many of the them are camping in New Delhi to meet the central leadership. Meanwhile, Mr Namassivayam and Mr Vaithilingam, who were strong contenders for the Chief Minister’s post, also met the Congress president separately to discuss their position in the new cabinet. EOM.
