Vijayawada: TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s statement over reviving of ‘Bring Babu Back’ (BBB) at Mahanadu has gone viral among TD platforms and associated wings.
Though Mr. Naidu has gave out the slogan BBB in a hurry, the fact is that Babu is already back, and hence this time slogan should be ‘Babu Once Again’ (BOA), a software professional in the CBN Army shared his view.
Even some TD leaders are amazed over the statement that BBB be revived. While giving such statements, the party needs to be taken into confidence, a senior leader said.
The TD wants to retain power in Andhra Pradesh in the 2019 elections by bringing another 80 lakh party members into its fold in the two Telugu states.
Determined to repeat its magic again in 2019, it wants to replicate its highly successful ‘Bring Babu Back’ campaign, which propelled the yellow brigade to power in 2014.
The ‘BBB’ campaign was kicked off ahead of the 2014 elections, having a major focus on the youth, especially the first-time voters, and it worked out well in the favour of the TD. The campaign had also tapped into the high potential of online campaigning through social media and other means, projecting Mr Chandrababu Naidu as the best bet for development of the state. The TD polled 1,33,72,862 votes against the YSRC’s 1,27,71,323 in 2014 polls.
Coming to the statistics, Mr. Naidu needs to be comfortable with his membership, as it is at 74 lakh. He wants the party to add another 80 lakh as members by 2019. That means, 1.54 crore will be the TD membership, with which he will certainly win the elections in 2019.
That is the reason why Mr. Naidu has suggested to go for additional membership drive, with the help of campaigns like BBB, said K.P. Rao, a party activist from the Krishna district.
However, he suggested to the party high command to change BBB to ‘Babu Once Again’ (BOA) as he is already back in power. “That was meant for 2014, and for 2019, it should be BOA,” he observed.
