The celebrations went on unmindful of the pouring rain, be it the police parade or the cultural performances, the mood was upbeat.

Meanwhile, Mr Joshi and Warangal Urban district collector Amrapali Kata were criticised by netizens for not saluting the National Flag while the National Anthem was being played after hoisting of the Tricolour during the Formation Day celebrations.

Videos and photos of Mr Joshi and Ms Kata standing without saluting the flag were circulated on WhatsApp and Facebook.

Mr Joshi hoisted the Tricolour at the celebrations of Warangal Rural district at JNS Grounds as the chief guest while Ms Kata attended the celebrations at Police Parade Grounds in Hanamkonda where Mr Srihari was the chief guest.

However, the I&PR department officials clarified in a WhatsApp group that it was not required for the officials to salute the flag and they can stand at attention, according to Flag Code of India, 2002, Part-III 3.31 of Section VI.
