Hyderabad: 5 organs of woman, 21, donated
Hyderabad: Five organs of K. Mounica, 21, were donated to the Jeevandan scheme of the government on Saturday. Mounica, who hails from Nalgonda was declared brain dead on May 29 after she met with an accident near Panagal Bypass Road, Ramagiri, in Nalgonda, while she was going on her two-wheeler.
Mounica fell and received seriously injuries to her head after she was hit from behind by another two wheeler. She was rushed to a local hospital and administered first aid. Her parents called up the office of Jeevandan at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences to donate the organs. Her father Mallibabu, a driver, explained, “She was doing third year BTech in SRTS College in Nalgonda.
She was hit from behind and we rushed her to a corporate hospital in the city but they declared her brain dead due to severe head injuries. We decided to donate her organs. My daughter did not enrol for government’s organ donation scheme, but we want her life to be useful by donating her organs to those who need them.” Two kidneys, liver and two corneas were donated to Jeevandan.
