SALEM: A wild guar was found dead inside the Mettur dam area at Achangadu near there on Saturday. The carcass of the gaur was spotted by local fishermen at Achangadu area, part of the Mettur reservoir spread and alerted the Forest officials, sources told DC over telephone.
A team led by Mettur Forest Ranger Mr. Prakash Raj, rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation.
Forest officials suspect that the gaur might have been trapped in the dead storage water when it had strayed into the dam area for quenching thirst in blistering summer. The government veterinary doctor from Kolathur conducted a post-mortem on the carcass at the spot.
