AP SC and ST panel chief seeks reforms in education
Amaravati: AP SC/ST Commission chairman K. Sivaji asserted on the need for reforming education sector to provide quality education.
The Navyandhra Students Joint Action Committee conducted a seminar on “Reforms in education sector”at Guntur on Saturday. Addressing the seminar, Mr Sivaji said that swift changes are coming worldwide in the education sector but our education system is failing to meet the international standards. He suggested students to acquire command over the language and communication skills, which is essential in today’s competitive world.
He praised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for bringing world-class educational institutions to Amaravati which would help AP students to get good education.
Reeling out government welfare schemes to the students of various communities, Mr Sivaji said that the government was trying to provide English education from primary level and asked the public to make good use of it by admitting their children in the government schools.
MLC A.S. Ramakrishna said that the state government sanctioned 17 per cent funds to education in the state Budget and asked students to set their goals in the early stage to achieve good positions in the society. AP State Minorities Finance Corporation chairman Md. Hidayath said that due to unavoidable conditions, united AP was divided, but the government, despite deficit Budget, is giving priority to education sector and asked the students to update their knowledge according to present needs.
Mr Hidayath sought legal status to fee reimbursement scheme to help the students. Guntur district education officer K.V. Srinivasulu Reddy and others addressed the students.
The leaders of various students organisations and students submitted memorandum on various issues to Mr Sivaji on the occasion.
